Pencaitland Rainbow Guides may fold without volunteers

The Pencaitland Rainbow Guide group are looking for volunteers to take over the running of the group. The existing leaders are moving on in a couple of weeks and, without someone new to take it on, the unit will be in danger of folding.

Rainbow Guides is the very first guiding organisation that little girls can join, and is for 5-7 year olds to attend before going on to Brownies. It is great fun for the girls and is a good way for them to get a bit of independence and social interaction away from nursery or school.

If you think you could help please register your interest via the guiding website. If you know others who may be interested in volunteering please pass this information on.

    Hi Eilidh

Hopefully parents who have been fortunate enough to have their kids at Rainbows over the last five years will be able to work together to prevent this unit collapsing for lack of a few people prepared to help. If a few could spare a bit of their time, rather than one person carrying all the responsibility for it, then I’d hope that it would be far more doable for all concerned.

But that means that parents with kids past, present or hoping to attend in the future, need to talk to each other or they are in real danger of losing Rainbows once again from Pencaitland.

Please don’t wait until it’s too late. Make yourselves known to each other and let’s see Rainbows grow from strength to strength…

It’s very disappointing to hear this, as I was one of the volunteers who restarted this unit over 5 years ago. Come on Pencaitland – we need some mums or dads to step forward and give these girls a future to look forward to!
