No need to baton down or invoke emergency planning, its virtual snow.
If you have a blog/website on ourlocality you may have noticed a light snow fall which follows your mouse movements.
The seasonal snow is built in and will stop all of its own accord on January 4th 2016.
If you cannot wait that long, then towards the bottom of the Dashboard > Settings > General > page
You can deselect the checkbox and save your settings to remove it.
And that is probably it for another year, folks.
