Dunbar History

Some years ago Richard Mullender, then a sixth year student at Dunbar Grammar, put together DDHS’s first web presence. James Herring oversaw the project and for a number of years the site worked well. With time, the society realised that the search tools did not work well for them. So, first of all we converted all their articles into single posts and classified the content carefully, using categories and tags and making sure that featured images were used and simply WordPress’s powerful native search worked its magic.

A little later we migrated the site to a new instance and ditched the pre 2018 template, which was past its use by date (an inevitable consequence of the march of technological progress is that your website template will need changing every so often, every couple of years you should review). We quickly put together a new site using block layouts and all the basic automations you get built into a modern WordPress template.
