We’re upgrading this weekend to “Parker” (in honour of Charlie Parker, bebop innovator) with Version 3.8 of WordPress. The claim from Matt Mullenweg is that this is the most beautiful update yet, and that is just the girls’ view. Anyways we’ve given it a spin and we think you’ll agree. Here’s what is under the bonnet:
The dashboard has a fresh, uncluttered design the epitomy of clarity and simplicity.
Open Sans typeface is simple, friendly text optimized for desktop and mobile viewing, and open source, just like WordPress.
Beautiful design should never sacrifice legibility. With superior contrast and large, comfortable type, WP3.8 is easy to read and a pleasure to navigate.
High speed definition
Sharper than ever the new vector-based icons scale to your screen, no pixels to load, so pages appear faster.
Hate “Drag-drag-drag” and “Scroll-scroll-scroll”? Widget management is streamlined and less complicated.
And finally the 2014 theme – turns your blog into a magazine
A beautiful magazine-style theme is packed inside. Grid or slider layouts to display featured content on your homepage. Customisation with three widget areas and two page templates/layouts. Intrepid for a default theme.
Not for car booters.
So who is going to the first to give 2014 a go?
NB. Expect a little bit of downtime
while we iron out any wrinkles.
