Tide and Swell update

From Monday 25th evening 17.30t to Tuesday 26th morning 05.30

Swell from North, onshore wind. Tide not exceptional but expect 12 foot swells, very high really, the result of 3 days of Northerly winds.

March 2016 meeting minutes

COASTAL EROSION WORKSHOP

Chris Coutts introduced the Forth Estuary Forum (FEM). It is an umbrella organisation principally funded by Marine Scotland. FEM has already held a workshop on dredging and Chris is now keen to set up a new group bringing together expertise on coastal erosion.

The ambition is to bring approximately 30 specialists, perhaps to Dunbar.

Kenny and Mike had introduced Chris to the East Beach and its history. The meeting attendees joined with them in a lengthy and detailed discussion about the possible causes of the sand loss and the threat that this now posed to the sea defences.

CREEL LOADERS IS UNDER WAY

In case you are wondering….yes… the work to form the Harbour Gateway is UNDER WAY!  P+K Landscapes of North Berwick have started to prepare the ground and paving will be complete by the end of November.

THE BIG HOLE IS NOT FOR A FOUNTAIN BUT FOR A FOUNDATION THAT WILL WORK TO SUPPORT THE FINISHED PIECE WHICH WILL BE ABOUT 7 TONS IN WEIGHT.

GARDNER IS CAREFULLY CHIPPING AWAY AT THE BLOCK (WHICH STARTED OFF AT ABOUT 20 TONS) AND WILL GRADUALLY REFINE, PIERCE AND CARVE FINER DETAIL IN LINE WITH THE MAQUETTE.
AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE ARE MILLIONS OF STROKES TO THE STONE AND GARDNER WILL WORK AT HIS OWN PACE IN GOOD WEATHER UNTIL HE IS HAPPY WITH THE END RESULT.
