Pencaitland Primary School’s PTA is planning for plenty of fun activities at this year’s annual Spring Fayre which takes place on the 31st of May between 1pm and 4pm so make sure you make a date in your diary.

As with past years, anyone getting their faces painted or simply wanting a photo keyring, can pose for a snap and they will be able to collect the their personalised keyring(s) from school reception a few days later.

Organisers are expecting a fun filled event full of games, science, bouncy castles, cycle smoothies and much more. This year the kids are organising their own games challenge as well as crafts. Volunteer slots (see below) are for 1.5 hours each so you will have time to enjoy the afternoon even if you do give a little help on the day. Volunteers can contact the PTA via email PPSPTA1@gmail.com.

As in previous years the PTA would be grateful for any of the following:

Donations: Used Books and toys, tombola items, lucky dip items. Please contact Charlotte on 01875 340987 for uplift, take early donations to 26 Vinefields or from the 26th May, bring donations directly to the school office.

Baking: As much as you can make for the Cafe and Cake stall!

Your time: Setting up, clearing away, manning the stalls.

Your money!: Selling raffle tickets. Donations for raffle prizes please contact PPSPTA1@gmail.com.

So pop on down on the day and enjoy the activities, food and fun, whilst helping to raise much needed funds for PTA support of the school.

A. Pencaitland’s Annual Fireworks display.

Come and enjoy the 2013 Fireworks Display in Pencaitland this year and help raise much needed funds for local educational needs.

Pencaitland’s regular festival of fireworks is slated to take place on Saturday the 2nd of November, starting at 7pm. Gates will open at 6.15pm.

As per last year’s event the Fireworks display returns to Lempockwells Field just south of Lamberton Court and to the west of Lempockwells Road. You can view the Fireworks Location and main entrance here.

Tickets for adults cost £5, £3 for a child or a family ticket costs £13 (this includes two adults and up to four kids). Under 5s get free entry.

You can purchase tickets from the School Office or by calling 01875 340 260. Tickets are also available from the Spar Shop, the Granny Shop, or at the gate on the evening. However, if you plan to come and support the event please try to buy before the big night to ease congestion.

Remember that all funds raised go towards many much needed and very necessary resources at Pencaitland Primary School.

The final tally on last Saturday’s fundraiser for kid’s bereavement charity Richmond’s Hope came to £4,794.50

A letter from Emma Hack from Monday 4th March 2013

“Dear everyone

I can’t begin to tell you how touched I am by everyone’s support and generosity. I hope (and think!) that those of you who were there last Saturday night had a really enjoyable evening, I certainly haven’t laughed as much in a long time! There were a lot of very special people who all worked very hard to make the event happen, so Jim and Lynn Fraser, Scott and Lydia MacDonald, Stella and Derek Birrell, Caroline Wolfe Murray, Shirley Hamilton, Christine Galvin, Natasha Ingram-Phoenix, Amy Baillie, The Domestics, Ray & Charlie and everyone who donated food and homebaking – a HUGE thank you for being so generous with your time, skills and support x.

So the part that everyone has been waiting for, we have managed to raise an absolutely amazing £5395.00 for Richmond’s Hope. That will enable Aimée and another 8 children from East Lothian to receive the help they really need following a bereavement, as well as having a bit left over to help towards the cost of the activities they do.

Can I also put a shout out on Richmond’s Hope behalf – they are looking for pasta bake type jars to use for the children to make memory jars out of. If you have any you were going to put into recycling I can pick up and take into Richmond’s Hope.”
