We are relaxed with racing and at the very least the sailing program is an organised sail in company to encourage everyone out on the water and build confidence, but when more than one boat travels in the same direction it’s always slightly competitive and we also need at least three boats for a race.
If not intending to race or complete the course, just get out anyway. We want to accommodate everyone as best we can so if we need to move a start time slightly to allow for work commitments, please advertise your intentions on WhatsApp. Equally if we have weather issues we can move to the Sunday or an alternative race date.
DSC Race start line and finish (unless otherwise specified) is the transit from the north Harbour Wall – a vertical white line and a short pole on the rocks almost due north from the wall and outer marker extending 150m approximately. Start of the race will be indicated by a blast of a horn at – 5 minutes before allocated start time, 2 minutes and then 0 minutes (GO). Please take your elapsed time from the horn on ‘Go’, to when your bow crosses the finish transit, fill out race form and send to Gareth to collate with the vessel name and elapsed time. Results will also be posted on live website feed and club socials.
Wednesday race will be DSC start, poo buoy to starboard, through the iron poles, back out between Scart Rock and Castle Foot Rock (leading lights on a reciprocal course), Poo Buoy to port, finish transit of iron poles.
Shortened course will be DSC start, Poo Buoy to Starboard and Iron poles finish.
Weather may require us to finish at DSC transit in which case this will be advised.
Happy and safe sailing everyone!
