Terms and Conditions

Welcome to The Dunbar Sailing Club. By becoming a member of the club, you agree to comply with the terms and conditions outlined below. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before participating in any sailing activities with the club.
1. Membership Eligibility
Membership is available to individuals who meet the club’s membership requirements. Members must be of legal age (or have parent/guardian consent if under the age of 16) and must maintain their membership in good standing.
2. Member Responsibilities
As a member of The Dunbar Sailing Club, you agree to:
- Abide by the club’s rules and regulations, including those regarding the use of equipment, safety, and conduct while participating in club activities.
- Maintain your equipment in good condition (if applicable) and ensure that it is suitable for safe use.
- Act in a respectful and responsible manner while at the club and during any sailing activities.
- Promptly notify the club of any changes to your personal information or status that may affect your membership.
3. Safety
The safety of all members and participants is of paramount importance. However, members are fully responsible for their own safety while participating in any sailing activities, including but not limited to:
- Ensuring they have appropriate safety gear, including life jackets, when on the water.
- Having sufficient knowledge and skill to safely operate the boat(s) and equipment provided by the club or owned by the member.
- Being aware of and adhering to all safety guidelines and emergency procedures as communicated by the club.
- Notifying the club immediately or not participating if they believe they are unfit to participate in sailing activities due to any reason, including but not limited to physical or mental health conditions.
4. Liability Disclaimer
By joining the club and participating in its activities, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- The Dunbar Sailing Club and its officers, employees, agents, and representatives shall not be held liable for any personal injury, property damage, loss, or any other damages that may occur during sailing activities, whether on or off club property, regardless of the cause.
- You agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the club and its representatives from any claims, actions, or damages arising from your participation in sailing activities.
- This includes, but is not limited to, any injury, accident, loss, or damage resulting from weather conditions, equipment failure, or the actions of other members.
5. Insurance
The club may or may not provide insurance coverage for accidents, injuries, or damages. It is the responsibility of members to maintain their own insurance coverage if desired. Members are encouraged to seek personal accident insurance, liability insurance, and property insurance for their participation in club activities.
6. Club Property and Equipment
- Club equipment must be used in accordance with the provided guidelines and with respect for others. Damage to club property must be reported immediately.
- Members using club equipment are required to return it in good condition, and any necessary repairs due to misuse will be the responsibility of the member.
7. Disciplinary Actions
Failure to adhere to these Terms and Conditions may result in disciplinary actions, including suspension or termination of membership, at the discretion of the club’s management.
8. Amendments
The Dunbar Sailing Club reserves the right to modify or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to the members, and continued participation in club activities will constitute acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions.
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
