Community energy must cross all political divides.

It is a basic human right to have

Shelter

Food

Warmth.

We must not allow people to struggle to stay warm.

Our idea of Community Energy fits into the following mandates:-

Scottish Community Empowerment Action Plan – COSLA + Scottish Government
“For some communities empowerment will involve owning assets, and controlling budgets, or generating their own income to reinvest. In some cases, communities will want to take action around an injustice or to protect a valued resource

Edinburgh and South East Scotland Development Plan which requires each local authority to include policy 10-b within their Local Development Plan.
Policy 10-b “ Set up a framework for the encouragement of renewable energy proposals, taking into account relevant economic, social, environmental and transport considerations.”
In section 124 of the proposed plan it states “ Consideration of location, landscape, environmental quality and community impacts will be required for onshore developments”

East Lothian Environment Strategy 2010-15  – East Lothian Council                    “Plan positively and seek opportunities to facilitate low carbon and renewable energy technologies for communities to produce their own energy.”
