We have a few ideas but we need yours. Community Energy only works well with the energy and ideas of the community.
Energy advice service
The BeGreen shop in West Port, Dunbar has energy advisors who will help reduce the cost of your of gas and electricity bills.
With money from community energy the service can continue and grow. It will be able to pay for the things that will keep homes warmer for less money.
Community bus
This is one of Malcolm’s favourites. A community bus for hire, running on eco fuel. Providing work and transport for who needs it. So, who needs it?
Free electricity
Free solar panels for households so that we can have free electricity. The household gets free electricity, the community shares the income from the Feed in Tariff. The costs are high at the moment. Can we make it work?
Coppice woodland
This is Iain’s favourite. By working in our own woodland we can grow wood fuel for the future and provide jobs now. We are looking into suitable land to grow trees for wood fuel. Traditionally, people in East Lothian would coppice woodlands as a way to get wood fuel for fires and keep their forest alive. Dunbar Community Energy believes we should prepare for this again. That is why we want to start our coppice woodland project.
