Our AI Helper Has Moved
We’ve updated the OurLocality Helper — our AI-powered support tool — and moved it from ChatGPT to Claude, made by Anthropic.
The reason is straightforward: Anthropic’s approach to AI safety and ethics is a better fit for a community-first, non-commercial platform like ours. Unlike some of the bigger players, Anthropic is a company whose stated mission is the responsible development of AI for the long-term benefit of people — not shareholders.
The Helper is there to answer common questions about the platform at any hour, without you having to wait for a human to reply. It won’t replace good judgement or a conversation with your Administrator, but it’s a useful first stop.
As always, if you get stuck, the Support Hub and live chat are only a few clicks away. Please use it responsibly, for ourlocality help use only. For thos that want to know, we have deployed the Antrhopic API via Vercel and are using their free tier, which is also rate capped. Any problems, just let us know.
We have to pay for each use. Our credit is capped, so any abuses will just deny genuine users access.
