Chursh Street Vennel Garden

Church ST Garden WallWork Party at Church Street Vennel Garden: Sunday March 10th (Mother’s day) from 10am the five families will be on site trying to get a number of essential tasks completed. Any additional manpower that might be available would be gratefully received. Refreshments and a hot meal will be provided. The tasks we hope to accomplish are:

  1. Build a “living wall and door” using recycled pallets. It is essential to secure the garden so that tools etc. can be kept on site and antisocial behaviour discouraged
  2. Clear site of remainder of rubbish, large boulders and further flytipping
  3. Weeding, weeding, weeding
  4. Turf one of the large plant beds to provide somewhere for the kids to play.
  5. Build the worm composter

I know this is an optimistic list of tasks to accomplish in one day, it really depends on the number of hands available, weather etc.

If people would like to help us but cannot volunteer time we are also in need of plant pots, fence posts and seeds, etc. Our aim is to recycle where possible and to date this project has had zero budget. We’d love to keep it this way as an example of what can be done with community spirit, recycling, and goodwill!

Thanks again, we hope to see you all soon, and on behalf of the 5 families, thanks again for your support.
