Organised Rides

Dunbar Cycling Group runs the following regular rides:

Sunday morning rides: Usually on quiet roads for 10-25 miles, sometimes with a stop for breakfast/coffee. Text Morag on 07966 491 961 for details of the next ride.

Family Ride: 10am on the last Sunday of the month. Family ride for all ages, 3-6 miles. We’ll wait for the slowest cyclists and aim for a picnic/play stop half-way. Email suzanne.forup@cyclinguk.org for details of the next ride. Dunbar Cycling Group and individual members have a range of bike accessories – child seats, child and goods trailers, tandems etc. for you to try out or use on group rides. Email info@dunbarcycling.org.uk for more details.

Explorer Rides: 2nd Saturday of the month. A series of interesting rides around East Lothian, aiming to cover 20-30 miles and new experiences. The rides are mainly on road but with some easy off road sections. Text Mark on 07914 602 123 for details. These rides leave from Shore Road carpark at 09.30

Cycle Tour: Depending on COVID. We’re hoping to do the 4 Abbeys tour in the Borders on the weekend of 8/9th May 2021. Meet at Tweedbank – there is a half hourly service from Edinburgh Waverley so if there are too many bikes for one train we can wait at Tweedbank. Text Mark on 07731 659 260 to join in.

The 4 Abbeys cycle route is 55 miles in total, but we will add on a little to reach the youth hostel in Kirk Yetholm where we are staying on the night of the 15th. Accommodation approx £18-20 depending on sharing https://www.hostellingscotland.org.uk/hostels/kirk-yetholm/and cycling around 25 easy miles to Kirk Yetholm hostel. We will either eat a communal meal or there is a pub in the village.

Day 1 around 25 miles Tweedbank to Kirk Yetholm.
Day 2 around 40 miles return to Melrose and onto Tweedbank.

Please note that rides may be modified or cancelled at the last minute due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. For this reason it is important to contact the organiser at least 24 hours beforehand so that they can keep you informed of any changes.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for ad-hoc meet-ups being organised by our members, or post a route and time of your own.
