The Nourish Scotland Annual Conference 2011 will focus on ‘The New Food Economy – Building a Sustainable and Secure Food System for Scotland’
Friday 30th – Policy Day
The highlight of the day will be a debate centred around the question of ‘Is Small Beautiful – the role of Small Producers in the Future of Food’ to commemorate the centerary of Schumacher’s book of the same name. The debate will be chaired by Lesley Riddoch and feature speakers from all sides of the Local Food debate. Other sessions will include:

Saturday 1st – Practice Day
Saturday will focus on the practial aspects of Local and Sustainable Food. In conjunction with local Glasgow groups we’ll be running Local Food Workshops including:
Urban Roots on Community Growing
Andrew Whitley on the Real Bread Campaign
Salad Growing with Growing Communities Hackney
CEiS on Opportunities to tender for Commonwealth Games
Jo Hunt and Ben Raskin on Plugging the 30 year Skills Gap in Horticulture
FOOD
Delicious seasonal meals using local produce (organic wherever possible) will be supplied. Lunch is included in the price of tickets.

This year we have Free Childcare courtesy of GERA’s Mobile Play Team who’ll be running food related workshops and arts and crafts activities for the younger delegates.
LOCATION
The conference will be held at the Pearce Institute in Govan, Glasgow. The Pearce is a fantastic venue, with plenty of room for networking and breakout sessions.
