Fairtrade Talk To Belhaven 1^st Guides – Wednesday 11^th sep 2013

Jo (from the Dunbar Fairtrade group) was asked to give a talk to the Belhaven 1^st Guides on the theme of chocolate and Fairtrade. This talk was to help them towards achieving one of their two chocolate badges.

The talk included information about the history of cocoa and the growing of the cocoa pods, and then it moved on to learn more about the farmers of cocoa, in West Africa in particular. Some of the difficulties the farmers face was then discussed and how the Fairtrade organisations help them towards a fairer and safer working life.
