Dunbar Grammar School Community Chicken Coop

Sustaining Dunbar and Dunbar Grammar School are delighted to announce the opening of East Lothian’s first Community Chicken coop with the arrival of the first 10 hens on Saturday November 17th.

The coop and enclosure were the idea of some Dunbar Grammar School pupils who won a “Dragon’s Den” style competition to help reduce the school’s carbon footprint.  It was made a reality through a grant from Community Windpower Ltd and supported by Sustaining Dunbar.

14 local families will be looking after the hens with help from S6 students at the school.  Alongside this project students will be mapping out the current egg production in Dunbar and District.
