Fairtrade Town Celebration A Success

Dunbar Fairtrade Partnership

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone, for all their support, help and donations.

Our Fairtrade event at the Townhouse Dunbar on saturday 27th oct, to celebrate becoming a Fairtrade Town was a great success with over 70 people joining us. Everyone enjoyed the  Fairtrade wine, juices, teas and coffees as well as Fairtrade cakes and nibbles, scrummy home baking , Scottish cheeses and oatcakes, beautiful scones from the Community Bakery, a veritable feast!

The event was supported by the whole community, representatives from Dunbar primary and Grammar schools, many faith groups, the Co-op, Sustain Dunbar, the East Lothian Council and Community council and many individuals, community groups and traders, from all corners of the town.

Dunbar sings community choir plus guest singer jules Gibb enthralled us with a beautiful set of songs and Jo Gibson said a few words about how the Town had achieved Fairtrade status and how 5 million people in 54 countries benefitted from the Fairtrade principles.

The Townhouse kindly let us use the wonderful community room and facilities for free.
A great time was had by all, well done Dunbar.
