URGENT UPDATE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE RECEIVED UNSOLICITED PACKETS OF SEED IN THE POST

The following message has recently been circulated by NFU Scotland

Significant numbers of Scottish households have been receiving unsolicited packets of seeds in the post from China/Singapore as part of a likely scam.
Following contact with Scottish Government, it urges those receiving seeds to take the following actions.

If the packet of seeds has not been opened, please leave it sealed.

DO NOT PLANT OR COMPOST THESE SEEDS.
It is possible that these seeds could be a harmful invasive species or harbour a disease both of which if released could pose a threat to agriculture and the environment.

Do not handle the seeds
These seeds may have been treated with a chemical pesticide. Please wash your hands if you have handled them without gloves.

Neighbourhood Watch Appeal for Information

At 11pm on Monday 10th August, a concerned member of the public contacted police to report seeing a female walking at the the side of the road, dressed in inappropriate clothing for the weather conditions and time of evening in East Lothian. She was last seen walking southbound between the roadway and treeline on the A1 near to the Cement Works, Dunbar. She is described as being aged between 25-35 years old, slim build with dark bobbed hair. Anyone with any information with regards this female or who may have witnessed her walking in this area should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 4199 of 10/08/20. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

East Lammermuir Covid-19 Response Volunteers Remain Active

With lockdown restrictions continuing to ease, a number of the Covid-19 Resilience Response Teams across East Lothian are stepping down on 1st August.

However, the East Lammermuir Covid-19 Response Volunteers will continue to offer support for the foreseeable future. Volunteers in Innerwick, Oldhamstocks, Spott and Stenton remain available to assist residents with:

  • picking up shopping/urgent supplies
  • posting mail
  • friendly phone call
  • information and advice
