Want to Change the World? U.Lab Hub in Dunbar

theory-uThere are still a few place available in the Dunbar hub for anyone wanting to follow this year’s U.Lab course together with others.

Anyone living in or near Dunbar is invited to take part in the free 8-week course on bringing about change, know as U.Lab. It is a ‘Massive Open Online Course’ (MOOC). Last year thousands of people around the world participated, including hundreds in Scotland. The Dunbar Hub is for people from around the area, allowing them to take part together and provide mutual support.

The course explores creative ways to face up to and respond to the many changes and disruptions in the world, from inequality to climate change. It helps participants to find ways to make change in themselves, their communities and society in order to bring change in the wider world. The course was developed in the USA at MIT and now draws in thousands of participants from 182 countries.

Local activists Elisabeth Wilson and Chris Bruce will be hosting the hub, which is being supported locally by the Community Development Trust, Sustaining Dunbar.

Elisabeth Wilson says:
“Last year, I was one of 900 people from across Scotland, from all walks of life, who took the course. In U.Lab you join a global community of tens of thousands of people working for social change who are on the same journey as you for the benefit of the whole of society.”

Chris Bruce adds:
“We are looking forward to hosting a hub for people from Dunbar and East Lothian who are interested in sustainable change, for themselves, their community, and the world.”
