Given Scottish Government&#8217;s ambitions in its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotland.gov.uk\/Topics\/Environment\/waste-and-pollution\/Waste-1\/wastestrategy\">Zero Waste Plan<\/a>, we certainly think that a community led approach may be a game changer.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotland.gov.uk\/Topics\/Environment\/waste-and-pollution\/Waste-1\/wastestrategy\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">This plan\u00a0describes a Scotland where\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"color: #000000\">all<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0waste is seen as a resource; Waste is minimised; valuable resources are not disposed of in landfills, and most waste is sorted, leaving only limited amounts to be treated.<\/span><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>What is it?<\/strong> The new programme from Zero Waste Scotland is a pilot and was launched in Dunbar today by Richard Lochhead, Scotland&#8217;s Environment Minister. It aims\u00a0to recognise the collective efforts of residents and local organisations and businesses to reduce waste, recycle more, and use resources efficiently.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where?<\/strong> Right here in Dunbar.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How?<\/strong> The pilot, to be coordinated by Sustaining Dunbar, is a partnership with Zero Waste Scotland and East Lothian Council,\u00a0with local representation from community groups, businesses and residents.
