Dunbar Primary School’s Ecology Umbrella Group are invited to the Youth Discussion competition awards! A few months back this group entered Scotland’s Environment Web Youth Discussion competition. Now they have been invited to the competition Awards Ceremony which is being held on Tuesday 17th June 2014 from 10am – 3.30pm at Our Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh. The event will not only celebrate the success of the winners, but will also recognise the effort put in by all entrants and the help given by teachers, parents and carers. The schedule for the day includes fun workshops, lunch, a chance to take part in an interactive question and answer session and the presentation of prizes by Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Environment & Climate Change. On the day, they will have the opportunity to view all the entries and be one of the first to find out who has won as the winners are announced. Preview the entries You can now view their entry online by visiting www.youngreporters.org.uk. From here, you can browse using the map or list view and then click on an entry to find out more about it and the inspiration behind it. There are a wide range of entries including posters, blogs, videos, animations and articles all of which highlight the environmental concerns of young people across Scotland. The winners of the two top prizes – £1000 for best group entry and £100 for best overall individual entry – will be announced live at the event. You can get the latest updates on the competition by following Scotland’s Environment Web on Twitter and Facebook.

Recycling is rubbish!
Do our diarists agree?
We are looking for 5 individuals and families to write a journal, weblog or blog of their experiences of the 3Rs = Reduce – Reuse – Recycle. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an old hand, or perhaps find recycling rather frustrating or just curious and starting out.
As a reward you’ll get a very trendy moleskine notepad and some basic training in using our blogging software. If you’ve not had a blog or a moleskine before, you’ll never look back. We expect a decent number of entries over the 2 weeks, but there’s no obligation to publish every day – we’re all busy these days. Please contact sue@sustainingdunbar.org to find out how to be 1 of the 5. For more information check out Recycling Diaries
