TELL US ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION AND WHY IT NEEDED A GOOD WEBSITE

The Scottish Flag Trust is a small charity with a no paid staff and a small budget. Our kind hosts had announced that they were retiring later in the year but by the time we realised we needed to move, we really needed to move very fast. With Christmas upon us the pressure was on, but thankfully knew already that our locality was providing free hosting for community based projects, charities and emerging social enterprises.

HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

We were between a rock and a hard place, with little time to clarify our specification and requirements (we didn’t know know how so were guided through the process), suffice to say that our locality was able to answer our multiple problems. We had little idea of what to do.

HOW DID OURLOCALITY HELP RESOLVE YOUR PROBLEM?

We got advice on getting the domain transferred (we’d mistakenly tied the account to a non existent email address so could not even access our account), had the transfer of the content automated, a backup the old site and database made for posterity (we were going to be using new technology, but were reassured that if needed we could go back to the status quo ex ante) and got a volunteer trained up in no time. We also wanted a few additional features, to sell merchandise, all of which was accommodated for a relatively small cost, which given the lightening speed of execution we felt was good VFM. We went live in a matter of weeks.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO OTHERS?

Our website expertise is limited and as occasional publishers our management needs are reliant on friendly support being available, without endless toing and froing. When we have a problem or question, it is greatly reassuring that it will be addressed quickly and efficiently.

AND HOW MUCH DID IT COST?

We are now on their  free hosting plan, but because the migration was a little more involved and we had extra requirements,  we had set aside a small budget. It came in at less that £500 and bang on time.
