Hannah Ewan, Cooking and Nutrition
I began work as a food journalist, and remain a freelance writer: it’s here that I started learning about the many issues surrounding the food we buy, grow, cook and eat. Eventually this became my primary interest and concern, and after maternity leave I moved my focus to the practical teaching of cooking skills, nutrition and sustainability.
A child asked me in a Plenty Project class what my favourite thing about cooking is: it’s seeing people try something for the first time, or that they thought they didn’t like, and enjoy it (or sometimes even just agree to eat it!). Cooking and eating a wide range of ingredients is the key to a lifelong love of good food, and I hugely enjoy helping people to gain the confidence to do both.
