One clue will be to look to the past. What was the economy like 100 or 150 or even 200 years ago? There will be more local food growing, livestock and food processing – flour mills, abbatoirs, etc. It may be that agriculture will become much more prominent. The “service industry”, which currently relies heavily on carbon producing power sources, will decline. People will do more for themselves in regard to food production etc. Human labour will become more important, as it is a highly efficient method of turning solar energy into work. This means more people in the fields instead of combine harvesters or tractors. People and heavy horses, another efficient method of turning solar energy into work. There will be more small-scale “appropriate technology” based manufacturing and craft workplaces, employing small numbers of people, but the increase in the number of workplaces will mean there is plenty of opportunity. I could go on and on.
