Dunbar Grammar School Community Chicken Coop

DSC_0122The Dunbar Grammar School Community Chicken Coop has gone from strength to strength introducing more families to the joys of keeping hens.

We started out with interested families that had children attending Dunbar Grammar School or Dunbar Primary School.  We are now pleased to be able to open the waiting list to the general public.

Anyone with an interest in learning how to keep hens is invited to apply.  Responsibilities include one duty a week (morning or evening) and cleaning out the coop once every 14 weeks.

A contribution of £5 per month is requested to cover feed costs and make the coop sustainable.  In return members get to learn how to care for hens without the costs and responsibility of setting up at home.  Most importantly members also get a share of the delicious eggs produced (usually 4-5 eggs per visit).

If this is something you may be interested in please get in touch!
