I am realising even those who I believe to be moral and self aware beings are crap at recycling. Real strength of mind is required to keep up the tediums of recycling from the fourth floor.
The bins provided by the council are ambiguous and sparse. We often find ourselves standing between the shelters bemused, with armfuls of cardboard and glasses. Glass goes in the blue bin (the size of your standard domestic green bin but for a ten flat building), cardboard doesn’t seem to have a home and then we have several green bins (purpose unknown) and one large metal bin (general rubbish?) – huh I dunno. Where does one even find these things out?
And who has the time to navigate the councils website, with all its millions of subcategories within subcategories. Refuse and recycling? Recycling points? Waste disposal? Cleansing and recycling? I just don’t know.
Sometimes just when I am losing faith in the world the Tesco delivery guy offers to take and recycle the intimidating amount of used plastic bags under the sink.
