‘What’s Stopping You?’

  • A lesson plan for class teachers to deliver the Independent traveller lesson in future
  • Established new Bikeability Level 2 training (cycling proficiency) for all P6 pupils at Dunbar Primary School and Level 3 for S2 pupils
  • Trained 12 parent volunteers to deliver practical Bikeability training to P6 pupils in the playground
  • 120 P6 pupils trained to Bikeability Level 2
  • A qualified volunteer Bikeability instructor who offers cycle training at levels 1, 2, and 3
  • 6 volunteers trained as Weldtech Gold bike mechanics
  • 35 extra local people cycle regularly
  • Established weekly Dr. Bike sessions at Dunbar Primary School
  • Established Dunbar Cycling Group including a base providing a focus to activity, providing a space to meet and share routes and advice with workshop facilities and noticeboard advertising local rides and cycling initiatives/campaigns and weekly ‘Fix your Bike’ sessions where people are gaining the skills to keep their bikes in good working order and access specialised advice and tools. More than 70 people have benefited from this to date
  • Developed and established ‘Learn to look after you Bike’ classes which 24 people have attended
  • 3 different bike trailers are now available for people to borrow/try-out free of charge
  • A growing cycling culture in Dunbar
