Station facilities
The station is managed by ScotRail and is unstaffed. The station is NOT disability compliant as there are steps via the footbridge to cross the line. However, there is disabled access to both platforms, but it is necessary to leave the station and travel underneath the railway bridge to cross the line if you are in a wheelchair.

The station has unique murals on the North platform depicting local scenes, both historical and present day. These were restored by the Community Rail Partnership in 2014 and undergo restoration from time to time.

Onward Travel To Popular Destinations – Walking
Site of The Battle of Prestonpans 1745
The railway line to the East of Prestonpans station is the only one in the country to cross an ancient battlefield. To access this exit the station from the Southern (Edinburgh bound) platform through the signed gate. Turn left and walk to the end of the station car park, cross the road onto the path signed towards the battlefield. Estimated walking time 3-4 minutes.
Preston tower
Exit the station and cross the road into Station Road opposite. At Preston Road, turn left and quickly right into West Loan. Second on the right is Laburnum Arch Court – the tower is at the top of this road. Estimated walking time 7-8 minutes.
