Shielding has been paused in Scotland for people considered more vulnerable to Covid-19.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Since 24 July, those in the shielding category have been able to shop and meet others indoors.\u00a0They can now follow the same general advice as the rest of the population.\u00a0To stay safe, you should strictly follow physical distancing and hygiene measures.\u00a0This means you should:<\/p>\n

– wear a face covering\u00a0if you use public transport, visit a shop, or visit a care home or hospital<\/p>\n

– avoid crowded places<\/p>\n

– clean hands and surfaces regularly<\/p>\n

– stay 2m (6 feet) away from other people<\/p>\n

– self-isolate and book a test if you have COVID-19 symptoms<\/p>\n

Could shielding return?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The infection rate in Scotland may rise as well as fall in the coming months, but the Scottish Government say \u201csmall changes will not affect\u201d the shielding advice, although it will be kept \u201cunder constant review.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we see an increase in infection rates that gives us concern, we may ask you to take extra steps again to stay safe. If so, we\u2019ll let you know by letter and through the SMS Shielding Service.\u201d<\/p>\n
