An organisation called Rural Direct provides a service designed to help rural community organisations access funding from a range of sources, including the new Scotland Rural Development Programme (SRDP). Rural Direct is a national service delivered locally by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), and they have been contracted by the Scottish Government to provide a service to local community groups

to help them identify sources of funding and to give them advice on making applications to appropriate funders. The publicity material specifically mentions village halls and so this may be a useful new source of funding for village hall projects in our area.

Whether you’re looking to refurbish your village hall, develop new local amenities and services, or work out a long term plan for your community’s future development, funding is available to help you. Rural Direct can help you get hold of it. The service is free to constituted groups in rural areas of Scotland. Anyone wishing to have further information should contact:-
