The awards recognise volunteer’s contributions to Scotland’s Railway and the wider local community. ELCRP picked up “Community Project of the Year”.

East Lothian Community Rail Partnership undertook this project to improve the appearance of the station at Prestonpans, by commissioning 4 new artworks to replace badly-weathered murals.

Fittingly for Scotland’s mural town, the subjects for the mural articulate figuratively recent local history. The entire project was delivered using talented local artists Lesley Innes and Thomas Ewing, Preston Lodge High School’s Art Department and East Lothian based businesses.

The project is now going forward to the National Community Rail Network Awards event that takes place in Swansea in March 2024. It has never been won by a Scottish CRP before, so we will know whether we have been shortlisted in early December
