We\u2019re close to having funding agreed for it and expect it to be in place late summer \/ early autumn 2025. At the same time, East Lothian Council are planning to reduce the height of the brick walls around the proposed park area during the course of this year. The rest of the work would then flow from that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is intended to breathe new life into a cherished neighbourhood by delivering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A small neighbourhood park on the site of the former play area<br>Places to play<br>Spaces to meet<br>Improving biodiversity with more trees and plants<br>Greening the steps and lanes<br>Street Art<br>Improved lighting<br>Cycle parking<br>Better bin storage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dunbar Shore &amp; Harbour Neighbourhood Group obtained grant funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) in conjunction with East Lothian Council to consult the local community about potential improvements to the streets, lanes and public spaces between Writers Court, Lamer Street, Colvin Street and Castle Street. East Lothian Council are also considering the provision of cycle storage in the neighbourhood and have recently submitted a planning application to remove some of the brick walls around the former play area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A very important project to upgrade an area of Dunbar that is under utilised and yet could provide so much more to the community.
