The Dunbar Coastlife Centre is a regeneration project conceived and promoted by Dunbar Shore and Harbour Neighbourhood Group. The proposal is to develop a currently derelict piece of land in Dunbar to create a ‘Coastlife Centre’ in a coastal garden by the beach. Following consultation with the local community, trade associations, schools and elected representatives, the objectives of the project are to:
- Create an innovative destination of choice, linked to the coastal environment, which would bring visitors to Dunbar;
- Renovate a long derelict open space for the benefit of all;
- Work with local groups including fishermen and trades to maximise the economic and social value to the community; and
- Involve young people not in education, work or training, wherever possible, in the development, construction and management of the project.
