Dr Bike activities to date

This blog aims to keep you up to date with Sustaining Dunbar’s Dr Bike project, so here is a summary of what’s been going on so far.  We started the Saturday morning Fix-your-own-bike workshops and the Dr Bike hour at Dunbar Primary School on Friday lunch times in January 2012, but it was all running quite informally until the April. Since 1 May 2012 the team has carried out 37 bike check-ups and helped 26 people to fix their own bikes at the workshop (2 x puncture repairs, but mostly adjusting brakes & derailleurs). We visited Beaver and Rainbow groups in June to run cycling safely activities, and we’ve visits to lots more groups lined up for after the summer.

Over the past year Dr Bike has also taught 13 Learn-to-look-after-your-bike sessions, in which 24 local people have learned and practised basic bike maintenance skills such as learning how to repair a puncture.
