It is essential to understand how and where local people currently travel in order to make recommendations for reducing carbon emissions from transport.<\/p>\n
A programme of surveys was carried out to determine the travel behaviour of residents and visitors to Dunbar, particularly with regard to journeys of less than 5 miles which could transfer to walking or cycling. \u00a0The surveys were designed to target a wide range of people and activities in order to collect data that is representative of the local population.<\/p>\n
We gathered responses from 520 households, 450 school pupils and 80 employees from all areas of Ward 7.\u00a0 Almost 1300 comments about daily travel have been received, and information about almost 3000 journeys involving nearly 4000 people has been analysed.<\/p>\n
