East Linton Saleground Update

Plans for bringing the Saleground site in East Linton back to life as a focus for local trading and community involvement have taken a step forward. The vision of the local residents who got together to start this project is to bring the former livestock mart into community ownership and develop it as a community hub and small business park, particularly for creative, ethical and sustainably minded businesses. Local surveys and meetings have shown overwhelming support for the project and for renovating the listed former auction mart building itself as a community venue and event space. There is clearly a high demand for flexible and affordable workshop space and office accommodation, particularly in a mutually supportive environment with shared facilities.

We have now submitted an application for funding towards the purchase price from the Scottish Land Fund. If this is successful then this will be a major milestone but just the start of making the vision a reality.
