Site policy

Belhaven Community Garden Site agreement with NHS Estates:

  • Always carry out a site induction and tool talk with new volunteers
  • Make certain new volunteers sign an individual membership form (sheets in the back of the sign in book) before you work on site.
  • Make certain you are familiar with the Health and Safety policies and procedures on site (see binder in poly tunnel)
  • Never work with hand tools (e.g. scythes) alone
  • Never wear dirty footwear into public toilet and keep it tidy.
  • Always wear appropriate work clothing and protective wear for the job you are doing.
  • Do not use the electrics in the Garage unless the power tool or appliance has been properly tested and passed.
  • Keep an eye out and correct and slip, trip or fall hazards.
  • Do not bring food waste from off the site – onto the site for composting
  • Keep all areas neat and tidy.
  • Always let Site Supervisor(Sue Guy)  know of when (ideally by filling in the monthly rota sheet in poly tunnel day or two in advance or by text/telephone: 07793559675) you may be on site and what tasks you will be doing if outside our scheduled Thursday and Sunday works sessions.
  • Please fill in the monthly rota for opening, closing and watering at least a day or two in advance if possible and always make a note on rota sheet if you have watered etc.
