We performed Play On!, by Rick Abbot, in October 2011, just before embarking on Anything Goes, and by audience reaction it was one of the most successful comedies we’ve ever produced.
The story is of a rather hapless amateur dramatics group (!) that is doing its best to put on a play by a local playwright.
Act One is a rehearsal of the play about a week before the performance, Act Two is the dress rehearsal, and Act Three is the opening night.
Unfortunately for our intrepid crew, things go from bad to worse, with hilarious results.
By all reports, people were weeping with laughter watching it – it was almost as much fun for us to perform – difficult to keep a straight face at times!
