3 School Kitchen

M Gilbertson highlighted some points of discussion on behalf of Canberra’s Kitchen Facilities staff members. Discussion included portion sizes and clarification that all such decisions are made at a regional level.

Our team of Kitchen Staff recently won great recognition for their work. As part of a Food Standards Agency initiative, they won an award, achieving 100% in standards. Local press will be covering the story. The Kitchen Manager, Margaret, also attended Council Headquarters to receive the award. This was acknowledged as a great piece of recognition for the whole kitchen.

4 Head Teacher Report.

LG extended thanks to F McGeachan for commitment to Netball. The team recently came 5th in the finals at Stewartfield. The team were outstanding and  great representatives for the school.

The recent book week brought in a profit of £600 for the school!  Celebrating Success went well. The recent Open Day was great, with our proud P7s assisting. Thanks extended to Parent council for support and tea! P7 have been to Duncanrig and had a great time. P1 induction with our Shooting Stars has taken place, all well behaved.  The school held a Golden Jubilee Party and a Royal Variety Performace with the Queen turning up!

School reports will be out 15th June. Mrs Blockley has returned . 20th June will be One World, one Canberra. Sports Day is scheduled for 21st/22nd weather dependent.  P3/4 are heading to Amazonia. P5/6 are going to South Lanarkshire Triathlon at John Wrights Sports Centre on 25th June. Leavers Assembly is 26th June. School closes 1pm on 28th June 2012.

5 Finance/Accounts as on 29/8/12

MG is currently looking after the accounts in the absence of a Treasurer. Summer disco brought in £375. Coffee Morning raised £558.15 including £178.35 from home baking alone. Ryan Adamson’s Mum and Gran excelled themselves with huge donations of lovely baking. Recatex for April brought in £38.75, May £60 and June/July raising £118.75. Recent purchases were P7 ties, sports trophies and the annual donation of £150 to the P7 leavers disco. Balance of the account is approx. £1277.12 including the most recent Recatex cheque. Statements have not been received and it is hoped that an exact figure will be presented at meeting on September 3rd 2012.

PC News:

The Farewell Concert disc has proved tricky. Shona Kinloch offered to take the task on and we look forward to hearing from her!

Adrienne Perry, Netball Coach and Canberra Parent, has offered to sponsor the Netball team. She will fund a trophy for Player of the Year and hoodies for the team. Her hairdressing business Miller & Bennett will be featured on the hoodies.

Pc will purchase medals for Athletics and Football.

Any Other Business:

Athletics Team will continue next year as long as someone steps up to run it. MT said he would consider helping if need be, work allowing.

Bike-ability is the new ‘Cycling Proficiency’. Canberra will not be running it as we have no-one to take it. It is no longer only open to staff, with parents able to participate. The school has not been able to secure the help of anyone to take this vital learning opportunity on board. This is extremely disappointing. As a Parent Council, we feel that this is changeable. It is hoped that someone will come forward.

Meeting Closed at 8:30pm
